Just finished listening to the Arctic Monkeys' third and new album, Humbug. I already have favorites:
Crying Lightening, Potion Approaching, Cornerstone, and Dance Little Liar.
The last two are just because they are beautiful. Pure sounds, good lyrics, great flow. Crying Lightening is something that I can only assume is their way of saying that they've taken their music in a different direction, and they can still have fun. Potion Approaching is old-school Arctic Monkeys and just as good as all their new stuff.
Great album. I knew it was going to be, but I'm so relieved that it IS good and I don't have to pretend that it is out of loyalty. I can't wait to see them in concert in a few weeks! This is going to be so good!

Saturday, oh Saturday
I'm sitting in bed, in my apt, and accomplishing nothing that I had planned on accomplishing today.
I'm okay with that.
So my laundry won't get done today. *shrug* Weekends are terrible days to do laundry anyway.
Dishes need to be put away, but meh, they're clean and that's all that matters.
General cleanliness should be a priority, but you know what? I think there's a certain charm to having two pairs of jeans slung over the back rest of a chair and that sweater balled into the corner of the couch.
I love living alone. I forget that sometimes. I forget that especially when I'm surrounded by people that I enjoy being with. I would imagine for moments about what it would be like to constantly be able to reach out, speak out, and have interaction with another person in the same room. It's not until I'm all by myself that I realize the breath I've been holding could be released and I could turn my racing mind off.
It was hard saying good-bye to Brendan this morning. It was harder having to turn back to an empty room after he had left. But here I am now, alone after two hours and I'm utterly, blissfully happy that I'm alone now.
I had ice cream from a carton standing in front of the refrigerator with the door open because I knew I would and there would be no one around to see me. I flipped through an Anthropologie catalogue with a clay mask covering my face because I didn't have to be embarrassed for myself or for anyone to witness me in such an indulgent state. And I will read in bed and probably nap for an hour because there is no one else for me to entertain except myself.
I love these hours and days that I get to myself. Oh, Saturday, won't you join me in this Tiny Toons marathon?
